Berand Estate is named after Colin’s grandmother Ruby Berand. She was the first woman born to European parents in the Kimberleys of Western Australia. At the age of 9 Ruby lost her mother. Ruby’s father sent Ruby on horseback across the Nullabor Plains to be raised by her Aunt in Sydney.
