LEFT OF STARBOARD
The name “Left of Starboard” came to me while reminiscing about my sailing days and the penny dropped … left of Starboard, in sailing terms, is Port.
In this stunning little bottle is a delicious 2009 fortified Shiraz, lovingly stored in oak barrels, carefully racked and bottled in 2016. Enjoy!

SHIRAZ 2006
2006 is Berand Estate’s first harvest and vintage and it is with great pride that we present these wines for your enjoyment. Hot, dry conditions throughout the 2005 and 2006 growing season produced a low yielding harvest. As a result, the concentration of juice and flavour in the grapes produced some unique and delicious wines. Enjoy. Nose: Intense plumb and spice. Colour: Deep plum in colour. Taste: Deep, lingering flavours typical of a good Hunter Shiraz Accompaniment: All main course meals, including roast beef and Italian cuisine. Cellaring: Drinks well now and will continue to age well over the next ten years

SHIRAZ 2009
Weather conditions for the Hunter Valley were relatively mild for the 2009 harvest. These favourable weather conditions have led to the creation of a wonderfully drinkable Shiraz. Released in 2014, it is already beautifully aged for your enjoyment. Nose: Light, spicy aromas, earthy with good oak. Taste: Our 2009 Shiraz has a front palate evocative of plums and a light, peppery finish. Already carefully aged for you, it is delightfully smooth on the palate. Colour: Bright plum. Accompaniment: This wine is the perfect accompaniment to most foods. It’s lighter style and careful ageing means that it will not overpower even more delicately flavoured meals such as creamy pastas, while still being robust enough to enjoy with a good curry. Cellaring: Enjoy now. Bottled in 2014, with careful cellaring you can enjoy this lovely Shiraz for a further five to seven years.
